The Billionaires Just Filed. Time to Pay Attention.
Want to trade alongside Wall Street’s biggest players?
Thanks to Form 13F filings, you can.
Here’s the deal: any hedge fund or investment manager with more than $100 million under management is required by the SEC to file a “13F” once a quarter.
These filings reveal their stock holdings – essentially giving you a peek into the portfolios of the world’s best investors.
James Altucher once called 13Fs a “cheat code” for individual investors because they let you see exactly what billionaires like Bill Ackman and Brad Gerstner are buying and selling.
Now, it’s not exactly a crystal ball. There’s a 45-day delay so you’re still looking slightly in the rearview mirror.
But the insights are still incredibly valuable.
And as of just a few days ago, we’ve officially hit that 45-day mark since Q2 ended.
Translation: Fresh 13Fs just dropped.
Let’s dive into the latest filings and see where the smartest money on Wall Street is placing its bets.
Berkshire Hathaway – Now Under Greg Abel’s Leadership
New CEO Greg Abel continues putting Berkshire's cash to work.
Berkshire Hathaway was a net buyer of nearly $20 billion worth of stock during the second quarter, extending its shift away from the massive cash hoard it built under Warren Buffett.
The biggest move was Alphabet (GOOG), with Berkshire increasing its stake by 83% after participating in a $10 billion private stock purchase to help fund the company's AI infrastructure buildout. Alphabet is now Berkshire's third-largest holding, behind only Apple (AAPL) and American Express (AXP).
Berkshire also added to Delta Air Lines (DAL) and several homebuilders.
Two quarters into Greg Abel's tenure as CEO, Berkshire continues to look more like a buyer than a seller.
Pershing Square – Bill Ackman’s Portfolio Overhaul
I pay close attention to Bill Ackman’s moves because he runs a concentrated portfolio – usually around 10-12 names.
Q2 marked his biggest portfolio overhaul in years.
The billionaire investor disclosed six new positions, adding Netflix (NFLX), Visa (V), Mastercard (MA), S&P Global (SPGI), Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), and Alcon (ALC) to Pershing Square's portfolio.
Ackman said he believes these companies are poised for strong earnings growth, which he views as the biggest driver of long-term investment returns.
The moves come after Ackman also added Microsoft (MSFT) earlier this year following its post-earnings selloff – a bet that has already paid off.
Altimeter Capital – Brad Gerstner Still Likes Tech
Brad Gerstner continues doubling down on AI infrastructure.
Altimeter Capital's latest 13F shows the firm added to Cerebras (CBRS), Qualcomm (QCOM), SpaceX (SPCX), and Micron (MU) during the second quarter while trimming Meta (META), Uber (UBER), Axon (AXON), and Broadcom (AVGO).
Nvidia (NVDA) remains the firm's largest disclosed holding, followed by Cerebras, Meta, Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM), and CoreWeave (CRWV).
I continue to agree with Gerstner's core thesis. The recent pullback hasn't changed my view that the AI infrastructure buildout is still in its early innings.
Companies supplying the chips, memory, foundries, networking equipment, and computing power behind AI remain some of my favorite investments.
Nvidia’s SpaceX Bet is Paying Off BIG Time
It's not just hedge funds that have to disclose their investments. Public companies do too.
Nvidia's latest 13F revealed a massive stake in SpaceX (SPCX) worth roughly $21 billion at the end of the second quarter, making it the company's second-largest equity holding behind Intel (INTC).
It's important to understand that Nvidia didn't go into the market and buy SpaceX shares during the quarter.
Instead, the position came from its earlier investment in xAI, which was later converted into SpaceX stock when xAI merged with SpaceX.
Even so, the filing highlights just how intertwined Nvidia and SpaceX have become.
Nvidia isn't just supplying the GPUs that power SpaceX's AI ambitions. It's also one of the company's largest shareholders.
Situational Awareness – Here’s What Leo Owned Before the Implosion
Remember when Leopold Aschenbrenner's hedge fund imploded last month?
Thanks to fresh 13F filings, we now know exactly what he owned just before everything unraveled.
As of June 30, Situational Awareness' biggest positions were Sandisk (SNDK), Micron (MU), Bloom Energy (BE), Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM), Nebius (NBIS), and CoreWeave (CRWV).
Then July happened. Here’s how those stocks performed.

July’s AI selloff helped trigger a liquidity crisis that ultimately forced Aschenbrenner to sell most of his portfolio to Citadel.
The filing is a fascinating snapshot of one of Wall Street's most closely watched hedge funds... right before one of the biggest blowups of the year.
Why This Information Matters
- Spot Trends Before the Market Moves – Seeing multiple fund managers piling into similar stocks can indicate emerging trends.
- Follow the Smart Money – If Ackman is buying a stock that’s currently under the radar, it might be worth investigating.
- Avoid Potential Pitfalls – If hedge funds are dumping a stock you own, it could signal risks that aren’t yet fully priced in.
Don't blindly copy 13F filings.
But they are one of the best tools individual investors have for discovering high-conviction ideas from some of the world's best money managers.
They’re available for free on websites like WhaleWisdom.com.
I review them every quarter, and I think you should too.
