The Stocks I'd Hold for 20 Years

One of my favorite investing ideas comes from Paradigm Publisher Matt Insley.

He has what he calls a "Forever Portfolio."

The rules are simple.

You can buy stocks…

As many as you want.

But you can never sell.

Ever.

I like this concept because it forces you to think long-term.

Instead of asking, "What will this stock do next quarter?"

You ask, "Will this company change the world over the next 10 or 20 years?"

Lately, as volatility has picked up and many of my favorite technology stocks have pulled back, I've found myself thinking about building a Forever Portfolio of my own.

Not with mature blue-chip companies, but with the next generation of world-changing businesses.

I’m talking about companies in artificial intelligence, space, autonomous vehicles, quantum computing, and other technologies that still feel speculative today, but could look obvious in hindsight.

If I were starting that portfolio today, these are the stocks I'd buy.

AeroVironment (AVAV) – The Pentagon is pouring billions into autonomous systems, and militaries around the world are rapidly adopting drones at scale. AeroVironment is one of the industry's leaders, and after a sharp pullback, I like having long-term exposure to this trend.

Infleqtion (INFQ) – Quantum computing is still in its early innings. The technology will go through years of hype, disappointment, and breakthroughs before it becomes mainstream. I have no idea which company ultimately wins, but I know I want exposure to the industry. Infleqtion is one of the names I'd be willing to own and forget about for years.

Robinhood (HOOD) – Most people still think of Robinhood as a stock trading app. I think it's becoming the financial super app for the next generation. Stocks, crypto, prediction markets, retirement accounts, banking... Robinhood keeps expanding into new products. My prediction? CEO Vlad Tenev will eventually get talked about in the upper echelon of corporate leaders.

Aurora Innovation (AUR) – Autonomous trucking doesn't get nearly as much attention as robotaxis, but I think it could be an even bigger opportunity. The economics are simply too compelling to ignore. Right now, very few investors are paying attention. That's exactly when I like buying.

Joby Aviation (JOBY) – Air taxis sound like science fiction until you actually fly in one. I did. The technology works. The remaining challenge is scaling it commercially. When electric air taxis become commonplace over the next couple of decades, Joby has a chance to become one of the defining companies in the industry.

Bitcoin & Ethereum – My view hasn't changed. I believe the risk of not owning Bitcoin is greater than the risk of owning some. Bitcoin has outperformed almost every asset over the past 15 years, while Ethereum continues to power a growing ecosystem of decentralized applications. I expect both to remain core long-term holdings.

Rocket Lab (RKLB) – Still my favorite publicly traded space company. Rocket Lab isn't just launching rockets. It's building satellites, spacecraft components, and deep-space missions while becoming increasingly vertically integrated. The recent acquisition of Iridium only strengthens the long-term story.

AST SpaceMobile (ASTS) – This is one of the highest-risk stocks on my list. But if AST succeeds in turning ordinary smartphones into satellite phones without any special hardware, the opportunity is enormous.

SpaceX (SPCX) – Yes... even SpaceX makes my list. If there's one lesson I've learned over the past two decades, it's this: don't bet against Elon Musk. SpaceX already dominates launches, built the world's largest satellite internet network, and is now investing tens of billions of dollars into AI. It has multiple paths to becoming one of the most valuable companies in the world. I’m comfortable owning it for the long haul.

Not every stock on this list will be a winner.

Some will disappoint.

Some might even go bankrupt.

But a few could generate returns that make the losers not matter.

That's the point of the Forever Portfolio.

Buy companies you believe in...

And then give them enough time to prove you right.
