You are aware that one of the Pebble Mine's most vocal opponents is Donald Trump Jr., aren't you? It seems he likes to fish there. – Steve

Yes, Steve! I’m aware Donald Trump Jr. was at one point an opponent of the Pebble Mine because Bristol Bay is a prime fishing spot for him.

My reason for holding isn’t about politics, though. The final Pebble Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), led by the Army Corps of Engineers with input from multiple federal and state agencies, tribes, and the local borough, concluded the project could coexist with the fisheries while protecting water resources and providing meaningful economic benefits to the region.

Yet the negative Record of Decision completely ignored these findings!

That decision is finally being challenged in court. We should get a decision in early 2026. I like my chances here which is why I’m still holding.
