$3K ↗️ $10K ↘️ $6.5K ↗️ $8K?
This is the final Q&A of 2025!
Thank you for being part of such a great year.
Today, I’m revisiting some of the best (and still very timely) questions from 2025.
Read through these carefully to start 2026 on the right foot.
Davis, after watching the market for three or four years my wife and I finally decided to jump in September 2024 with $3,000. The account tipped over our $10,000 goal for one day earlier this year. I should have pulled $3,000 and kept going because it now is sitting around $6,500. Should I maybe set a lower goal of $8,000 to take profit or leave all of it in? Your suggestions? – Ed
Ed, my answer to questions like this will always be the same: it depends.
It depends on your time horizon, your risk tolerance, and how this money fits into your overall financial picture.
If this account is meant for long-term growth and you’re comfortable with volatility, swings like this are simply part of the journey.
But if this money plays an important role in your day-to-day financial security or peace of mind, taking some off the table can make sense.
And it’s worth keeping perspective. Turning $3,000 into $6,500 in just over a year is still fantastic!
What type of content will you be sharing in The Million Mission? – Steven
Of course, my primary goal is to 10X my $100,000 initial capital. So I’ll be sharing every detail of my journey along the way.
However, maybe more importantly, I’ll also be sharing my thoughts on breaking news and investment opportunities that can impact my (and your) portfolio. If the news doesn’t impact my ultimate goal of reaching $1 million, it won’t get talked about in this mission-focused newsletter.
These insights will be easily digestible for all investor experience levels. My goal is that you find every single email useful to becoming a better investor – and growing the value of your portfolio.
How can I follow The Million Mission if I don’t have $100,000 to start with? – Beth
The best part is you don’t need $100,000 to start. You can start with whatever amount you’re most comfortable with.
Remember, this is a high-risk strategy that is not appropriate for all investors.
I’ll be writing about what I’m doing with my own money. It’s up to you to decide if you want to follow along.
Is there a particular strategy involved in your process? – Sam
My approach is pretty simple but it requires patience.
I keep a short list of high-quality companies that I follow very closely so I understand their businesses, risks, and long-term potential inside and out. That way, when the market hands me an opportunity I’m ready to act without hesitation.
At the same time, I’m comfortable owning a few asymmetric upside positions (like NAK and FNMA) where the payoff can be large if the thesis plays out, even though the path there may be volatile.
The goal is to let those asymmetric bets work in the background while I wait for broader market selloffs that temporarily push high-quality companies down for reasons tied more to sentiment than fundamentals.
What do you find to be the best research sources available to perform due diligence on a stock? – John
This is a great question. In my more “educational” articles, I try to lean on free sources like Yahoo Finance or Finviz so readers can follow along without having to pay for expensive research platforms.
With that said, I’m fortunate to have Paradigm’s backing which allows me to use a few additional paid resources regularly. Platforms like YCharts, Bespoke, Bloomberg, and several subscription-based news services are part of my day-to-day research toolkit.
Is there a good resource that explains options. Or can you give instruction/steps when you choose to do options? – Mike
Great question, Mike. Rather than reinvent the wheel in a short Q&A, Paradigm has already put together a full step-by-step resource that walks through options from the ground up.
